POSCO Argentina considers protecting the health and safety of its workers a top priority, ensuring safe, healthy and adequate working conditions. This approach seeks to continuously improve quality of life in the workplace and prevent negative impacts on the health of communities in its area of influence.
Occupational health and safety management is carried out in compliance with applicable legal regulations and in line with recognized international standards, such as IRMA and IFC, promoting proactive risk identification, incident prevention and continuous improvement of health and safety performance.
Management Principles
Health and safety management is based on the following principles:
Management and Responsibilities
Health and safety are the responsibility of all levels of the organization, with clear role assignment, ongoing training, safe work procedures and systematic supervision.
The project has emergency preparedness and response plans as well as continuous monitoring mechanisms, whose results are used to strengthen the management system and improve working conditions, protecting people and communities.
Training and Participation
POSCO Argentina promotes active worker participation through internal communication mechanisms that facilitate risk identification and improved health and safety performance.
Contractor companies are also encouraged to participate in health and safety activities, including training, inductions and compliance with applicable standards.
When appropriate, communication and coordination spaces are developed with communities to address aspects related to safety in the project environment.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
The project has general emergency preparedness and response plans and guidelines aimed at anticipating, managing and responding appropriately to situations that may pose a risk to people's health and safety.
These include the identification of risk scenarios, staff training and participation, and coordination with external stakeholders, including competent authorities, emergency services, other companies and communities in the area of influence.
Within this framework, training sessions and joint workshops are held with communities and external organizations, such as civil defense and firefighters, with the aim of strengthening preparedness and minimizing impacts on people and the environment.
Continuous Improvement
Health and safety performance is monitored periodically. The results obtained are used to implement corrective actions and strengthen the management system, integrating prevention, risk management, emergency response and performance monitoring into a continuous process to improve working conditions and protect communities in the area of influence.
