2010
Technology Development
POSCO develops its own lithium extraction technology, laying the foundations for its global leadership in the sector.
2018
Foundation and Acquisition
POSCO Argentina is formally established. The acquisition of strategic mining properties in the Salar del Hombre Muerto is completed.
2019 - 2020
Exploration and Demo Plant
The exploration stage begins and the demonstration plant is built, successfully completed in 2020 to consolidate activities.
2022 - 2023
Construction of Commercial Plants
Construction of the lithium hydroxide plant (25,000 tons/year capacity) begins in 2022. The following year, construction of the lithium carbonate plant (23,000 tons/year) begins.
2024 - Present Historic Milestone
Pioneers in Domestic Production
The company reaches a strategic milestone by starting lithium hydroxide production in Argentina. It is currently in the ramp-up stage while construction of the carbonate plant moves forward, with completion expected in 2026.
